Homework for the Weekend - B Day - 31 October

Happy Halloween from Ofdaniel and Boris the Russian peasant! Enjoy the evening and the long weekend! Remember that since we had an assessment in AP Literature there are no posts in Google Classroom. If you were absent, be sure that you have scheduled your make-up test.

AP Literature

This weekend there are two things to complete in order to prepare for Tuesday. First, finish your mini-project on Pop Culture and Philosophy. Remember that in this assignment you are applying the game plan to a piece of pop culture to argue that it is indicative of one of our three key philosophies. Your piece of pop culture should be cited.

Be clear in your claims about the piece. Use clear examples. Explain how they lead to the philosophy.

Additionally, spend time with Mersault in prison. Read Chapter 1 of Part Two. How does the new setting make Mersault feel? How is irony at play? What changes do you notice from Part One to Part Two?

AP Research

Be sure that this weekend you begin to work on your work moving forward and that you organize your PREP folder completely. Remember that there should start to be content in more of your sub-folders like PROPOSAL and CONFERENCES. Also, the Planning Out the Work log should reflect all the tasks you've completed in the first quarter.

This weekend research THREE potential Expert Advisers. These should be people you could actually contact. You can have more than one and they can be shared. Create a Google Doc in WEEKLY WORK and explain why they are a good adviser for you. Do research into the work they do.

Don't forget that you should be working on your PROPOSAL Draft daily as well as your REFLECTION for the week on today's lesson. Do a bit every day and this will get done!

AP Research

Here are today's slides where we reviewed method.

Russian I

Today in class we thoroughly reviewed the way in which we complete FIRST CONJUGATION and the different endings and how we use those endings to discuss who is doing what. This weekend be sure that you are practicing by completing the exercises. Read the sentence. Who is the noun? What ending do they need?

Also, remember that some verbs have to be memorized - these are the mutants. Be sure to go back and look at how we conjugated the verb TO LIVE as you do that exercise.

We'll have more time to work on our projects next class and on Wednesday. Be ready for a spelling quiz on Friday!

Advanced Russian

Today we had a class focused on exercise review in order to understand the new concepts that we are learning. The homework that you have this weekend will review those concepts. Here are some notes for each of the groups.

Russian II - We have to focus on how to pick the proper aspect. First, think about the key words that indicate a repeated action versus a one time action. Use the words in Chapter 5 (page 200-201) and the other words you see in the exercises. As you complete your exercises, be sure to pick the right verb for the situation.

Russian III and IV - Focus on learning your declensions! It helps so much to have it memorized. Consider which case is needed for the situation and which words help you to finish the task. Fill in the blanks and check yourself!
\
Homework will be checked on Monday for evidence of completion. Also, if you did not see one of the parts of Anna Karenina, please watch on YouTube and complete the viewing guide.

Homework for B-Day - Starting Q2 - 29 October

AP Literature

Next class we will have our The Stranger, Part One, Unit Assessment. The sample exam tasks that you had today are very indicative of the work you will do on Thursday. A few important reminders:

1. Review all of the slides and notes on Google Classroom that have been made available.

2. Annotate your books as you study and review. We've highlighted a lot of important passages. Do you have annotations which align with those passages? Do your covers reflect the work that we've been doing in class?

3. Be ready for the exam by using the review pack. Be able to answer all of the questions. Know what's expected of you!

Please remember to bring your novels/annotations for Part One. If they are on paper, bring those. Remember that these need to be reading notes, and not just your notes from class.  If you have questions related to the assessment, see us before the fact.

AP Research

Today we worked to understand the main parts of Q2 and then to break the major steps into smaller and achievable goals. Set a timeline for yourself. Hold yourself accountable. Be sure that you are able to explain and justify the choice that you have made. This is an important element of being productive. Remember that 15 November is a line in concrete. We must have the proposal complete in its DRAFT form by that day.

AP English Literature 10/25

AP English Literature

Great job with our discussion today! I enjoyed hearing your reactions to one of my favorite video clips.  I hope the clip from The Newsroom was insightful and thought-provoking. If you want to watch and/or share the clip, the video is on Google Classroom.

Homework for this weekend:
Read Chapter 6 of The Stranger. Bring questions about the text to class.

Next week:
1. Test on The Stranger Part 1 (Chapters 1-6) on Thursday!
2. We will review for the test on Tuesday!
2.  After the test on Thursday, we will work on our Philosophies and Pop Culture mini project. I would like them turned in at class next Thursday or the following Tuesday. Follow the Game Plan format. Make sure to cite your sources!

Have a great weekend! Do something fun:)

AP Research - Weekend Tasks - 25 October

AP Research

It's the end of the first quarter my lovelies and you have passed your first major milestone. Be sure that your PREP folders are reflective of all the work you have done this weekend.

Over the weekend you should READ YOUR INSTRUCTIONS. Annotate. Highlight. Develop questions. Try to know what you need to do and what you don't need to do.

I'll be checking your PREP folders on Sunday to make sure that they have your essential tasks from Quarter 1. These essentials are your:

  • Seven reflections - See the Document in Google Classroom.
  • An updated Planning Out the Work Log which reflects all that you have done so far this year.
  • Your Annotated Bibliography, Poster, Pitch, and Introduction Elements in your Assessment Task Drafts folder. If you have sub divided these into an Introduction Folder, great!
Remember as I said today in class, we must be grinding for the next three weeks. It's time to work out of our bad habits and be focused on a clear progression forward.

Russian Students - End of Quarter

Дорогие студенты!

Our quarter has finished and your grades are complete. Next week you can submit rubles/Falcon Feathers for quarter extra credit.

Homework for the Weekend - 24 October - A Day

AP Research:

You did it! First major milestone reached - you pitched, presented, and gave feedback to each other. One of the first things to do before moving forward is to reflect on the feedback you were given and make any needed alterations. Remember, it's all about having a solid foundation and course before we chart out into the wilderness.

This weekend you should be sure to read the instructions for your proposal. I gave you a paper version of the packet so that you could read, annotate, and write any questions you may have. This is also a good chance to start to plan your proposal and the supporting documentation that you will need.

Lastly, I'll be doing a final check of PREP folders on Sunday. Be sure that you have the following:

1. Your Assessment Task Drafts Folder should have your pitch, poster, Annotated Bibliography, and the Introduction Outline (list of nine elements with description and purpose).

2. Your Planning Out the Work log should be reflective of all the work you have done this quarter.

3. Don't forget to download the instructions to your PREP folder.

4. Do you have all seven reflections from Quarter 1 as well?

Russian I

We did some great work this week as we really learned how to conjugate verbs in Russian as well as the various ways to talk about possession and people. This weekend, your homework is pretty light. I would recommend being sure that you have focused on any information you're still not sure on since we'll be moving a bit quicker in Quarter 2.

First, I really recommend Duolingo - especially when it comes to verb conjugation. Download this program and use it. Many of you can probably test out of the first few exercises and lessons.

Second, decide on the city you'll study for your project. Write an ACES paragraph which goes over why you have chosen this city. Write at least four sentences in English. Be sure to use clear evidence and explain your evidence in your paragraph!

Advanced Russian

Today in class we finished watching Anna Karenina Part Two before moving on to our language task for the day. The main thing we did was discuss and review the five types of verbal action in Russian. We really focused on the first three, since the last two are a bit complicated. This was what we used to write about Anna and her story as we focused on choosing the proper verb (imperfective or perfective) as well as conjugation. Russian IV was focused on combining the sentences using words like who/which/that and then.

This weekend for homework we have some various assignments:

Russian II - Using the chart on types of verbal action, a dictionary/translator, and your skills at verbs, complete exercise 5.15 on page 213. Look for key words in the sentence to help you make the verb choice. Then conjugate to fill in the blank.

Russian IV - Read Chapter One of Anna Karenina and answer the questions in English to review your comprehension of the story. Then, in your textbooks, complete exercises 11.8 and 11.9 on pages 482-483.

Also - remember our talk at the beginning of class. You don't have time in this class for anything except learning more Russian. Stay focused on that and everything will still remain fun.

Hello fellow philosophers! Great job today with applying our philosophies to The Stranger! I enjoyed seeing your skits and I look forward to finishing them up on Friday.

    5. Answer one question that applies with the philosophy that pertains to your life and/or a problem in society   (10 pts!!) A complete sentence for each!

AP Research - 10/23 - B Day Slides

AP Research

It's about building the beast today so that we can move forward knowing we have a good course set for ourselves. Today was all about organizing the LIT REVIEW around the elements of the discipline. Remember that there are many ways to organize the LIT REVIEW, but you want to make sure that you are always JUSTIFYING the choices you have made and using the LIT REVIEW to show those justifications.

For Friday we have our posters and our pitches. Remember that you'll give feedback and present. This is the last major grade. Our super awesome last grade for the quarter will be a final PREP Folder Check. I'll be looking for all of your reflections, your assessment task drafts, and your task log. It's a good time to start reviewing those documents now.

Homework for 10/22 - A Day

It's nearly the end of the quarter! Be sure that your grades are complete and indicative of your work and abilities. If there is anything missing it should be settled up before the end of the week.

AP Research

Today in class we had our second LIT REVIEW lesson. I think that this lesson makes good sense after the work we did last week on the webs to develop our subtopics and key details. Remember that your purpose is to educate your reader on what they need to know in order to fully understand the choices that you have made in your investigation.

On Thursday we have our posters and our pitches. Follow the templates that you've been given. Remember that your pitch should cover the three sentences in under 120 seconds. You'll receive feedback from your peers.

Next week we'll start Unit 3. Be sure that all of your work for Unit 1 and 2 is complete before we move forward.

Russian I

Today in class we took our reassessment on gender, possession words, and agreement. If you're still confused or having trouble with the concept, let me know. After that, it was time for our work on verb conjugation. Remember that when we conjugate a verb we have to know some information before we start - mainly if it's first or second, and if there's a mutation or not.

Tonight I want you to practice both of our key skills by working through Exercise 15. You're going to fill in blanks using pronouns, possessives, and verbs. Be sure that when you work with the verbs that you work with the information around the verb. Who is doing the action? What ending will show that this person is doing that action? Remember that this is the goal of conjugation - to state who does what clearly.

Advanced Russian

Today was a day to put our toes into our work in the new unit and then it was on to Anna Karenina. Tonight for homework/practice - you should continue to work with your new grammar skill related to Anna's story.

Russian II students should use a dictionary or the vocabulary in Chapter 5 to make a list of verbs that work for Anna both to discuss regular actions and one time actions. This will allow us to think about how we use these verbs and how to make key choices related to aspect. Russian III is looking at some new types of pronouns/adjectives which all undergo declension of some sort of declension. Think about using these to discuss Anna's life. Where can you use "all"/"each other" and "oneself"/"one's own" to discuss Anna's life? Russian IV are looking at который phrases and clauses. Remember the work this little word does, and how it acts like a pivot point in a complex sentence. Remember that it works on both sides. Write two sentences and then combine them!

Homework for Monday - 21 October - B Day

AP Literature

Ignore your bookmarks! We are reading Chapter Four and Five tonight for homework. We'll make it up to you with Chapter Six, since that one is a bit lengthier. Be sure as you read to continue to follow your motifs (find them in the body of the text) and keep paying attention to how our philosophies are coming into play (especially as you notice tone and other narrative elements).

You should complete two more vocabulary cards based on these chapters. If you missed the first two, you can turn them in on Wednesday.

If there are any grades that are missing in the gradebook, those must be submitted by Wednesday for credit. Be aware of what your gradebook says and if there is an error, let us know.

Be sure to update your covers as you read (we discussed plenty of characters today).

AP Research

Today we worked well to develop our web of subtopics branching from our question as well as the details that support those subtopics. Be sure that you are using your BoK and AB to fill out the details and pair those with sources. This is the beginning of the end of your introduction.

Parallel work to this is our poster and pitch. Next class we'll have a quick lesson to finish the LIT REVIEW and then we will spend time preparing for posters and pitches. Remember that the work on posters and pitches is the final grade of the quarter.

Homework for the Weekend - A Day - 18 October

AP Research

Good work today y'all working through our web activity. I think that this is a great lesson where you all were thinking through the essential elements and sources that support your research question and statement. Remember that as you are working this weekend there are several moving parts going on.

  1. Be sure that you are constructing your pitch and poster to align with your pitch. Posters and pitches will be presented on the 24th.
  2. Take a look at your reflection folder and be sure that all of the reflections are complete. If you are missing any, be sure that they are done. I'll do a final check at the end of the quarter.
  3. It would be a good idea to start writing your LIT REVIEW based on your web/outline. First get it into some sort of logical order and then fill in the content. Consider the feedback you received on your Annotated Bibliography and be sure that you are looking at the documents I have given you related to the Intro/Lit Review and the Academic Writing Templates.
Russian I

Sorry to abandon you all today, but I don't think that you want me in the state I'm in. If you did not finish the small writing assignment in class, be sure that you finish that and turn it in on Tuesday. We will continue watching Doctor Zhivago on the 28th. So please keep your viewing guides. If you turned them in to Ms. Metcalf, great.

Don't forget that next week we will retake the possession and gender quiz. Make sure that you have studied and reviewed in preparation for this.

Advanced Russian

Again, sorry for the abandonment today in class. Today in class you should have reviewed the first content of your new chapters and completed exercises as a group to study and begin on these concepts. You should also have finished your free-response portion of the test today in class and turned that in to Ms. Metcalf. Over the weekend, focus on your new vocabulary. Be sure that you are learning your verbs and your nouns to start the new unit. Next class, we'll have some time for guided review of the concepts.

Homework for the Weekend - B Day - 17 October

AP Literature

Today we had a great day working into Camus and the ideas of existentialism and absurdism at play in The Stranger. This is one of my favorite novels, and I'm so excited to take you through it. As you are reading Chapter Two and Three this weekend, continue to annotate around the ideas that we started with today in class - but be sure to find more too and add to your lists. As you read, I would also direct you to the notes we've done on absurdism and existentialism. This will help you make sense of a lot of this text. Please complete two vocabulary cards from Camus this weekend.

The other thing to take care of this weekend is any missing or incomplete work (especially as it refers to the Unit 1 Exam). If you haven't yet presented your project, be sure that this is settled as soon as you can.

AP Research

Today we had a workday in class related to our introduction development. Remember that we will give our pitches and our posters next week, and they can't be presented late, so it must be done on time. All of this work should be in your Assessment Task Drafts (poster, pitch, and your outline introduction).

Next class I'll be going over Annotated Bibliography scores and feedback. I'm very happy with what I have seen so far. I think that there's a lot of great work going on in 309.

AP Classroom - AP LIT

AP Literature

If you did not complete the Unit 1 MCQ I have unlocked it again for you. Please complete this ASAP so that we can enter accurate Unit 1 Examination scores. I know that many of you have seen a drop in your score, this will be balanced by the project as the project and Unit Exam are worth approximately equal amounts of points.

We'll review the timed writings and feedback in the coming days as we prepare for the next ones.

Homework for A-Day: 16 October 2019

AP Research

Today was our workday devoted to our first posters and our first pitches. We should also be working on the introduction outline which at this point is just the descriptors of what goes in the outline and then the purpose of these items. Completing this now will help you to complete the elements of your introduction and to find them in the work you're already completing.

Remember that we will present our posters and pitches on the 24th. This is the last grade of Quarter 1. Everything should be submitted by that point so that we can move forward. If you need additional time or help, please let me know.

Russian I

Today in class we reviewed the concepts of gender, possession, and simple sentences in Russian. Next week we'll retake that quiz, and show a lot of improvement on these skills. Tonight your homework is to keep practicing by writing about your house. Create a Google Document and put a photo of a room in your house in that document. Then write five sentences about the items in the room. Who owns what?

Advanced Russian

Today in class we had our unit assessment. If you didn't finish, time will be given next class to complete the work. Our next unit will be different based on the different levels. If you are in Russian II, please review Chapter 5 (pink book) and complete the Chapter Preview. Russian III and IV will use the Carolina Blue book and refer to Chapter 8 (III) and 11 (IV).

Please have your textbooks next class as we are starting new units!

Homework for B-Day Students - 15 October

AP Literature

A pretty easy night tonight as you don't have much to do. Be sure that your projects are complete and that you are ready to present them this week. We can't grade your final product until you complete your presentation.

Tonight, it would be a good idea to find time to work with Camus. Get to know him by doing some preliminary research on his biography, his beliefs, and his philosophy. Jot down some notes since we'll be getting into the text next class and understanding him will help us a lot in understanding the text he's written.

Additionally, remember what I said about your recommendation letters. Be sure you have my correct email in as I do not have a Common App account with Daniel _ Miller.

AP Research

We're moving quickly to the end of the quarter and the end of our second unit. Next week we will be presenting our FIRST poster and pitch. For the poster, you need to work only through the required elements in the slides from today and your pitch is only three sentences (though filled out with details).

Don't forget to create a document in your PREP folder in the Assessment Task Drafts Folder. Go through the nine elements of an introduction and write a definition of this element and its purpose in the academic paper. This is the beginning of your introduction outline which we will continue to work through next week.

Remember that all Annotated Bibliographies should be in this week. I will be conferencing with you on Monday about your work, so be sure that what you need to have in is in.

Monday, October 14, 2019

College Recommendations - Important!

Dear Seniors -

If you have invited me on Common App, please be sure to use daniel DOT miller and NOT UNDERSCORE. I am missing some of you on my student list, because I think you used my underscore email and not dot. Both emails come to me, so this is creating an issue as I don't have a Common App account with daniel _ miller.

Please check your existing invitation or invite me with the other email.

Homework for A Day Students - 14 October

AP Research

Today's class focused on the first pitch and poster. Remember that we will present our posters and our pitches on the 24th and this will be the last grade of Q1. All other works should be submitted by that point.

If you haven't yet completed and submitted your AB to Google Classroom, please do so as soon as possible. It is my goal to return feedback to you on Friday and conference with each of you on your AB work. Help me to facilitate that process by submitting your documents as quickly as you can.

Our next major step is the outline and draft of the introduction - to follow the posters - and then the research proposal. The proposal will go through two steps - a draft and formal review by the district. I'll share the forms with you once they are approved by Dr. Spencer.

Russian I

Today in class we took a quiz on gender and vocabulary before finishing our film, Russia Revealed. I really like this film due to the fact that it shows that Russia is a very diverse land with not just a bunch of blue eyed, blond people.

Tonight for homework I want you to do a few things. First, complete the exercises to review gender and possession. This is good practice especially if you weren't too prepared for the quiz today. After that, you should work on the back. Look at the verbs. What can you tell about them? How do they work? What do they mean? These are examples of many of our verbs in this unit. So knowing these patterns will help a lot!

Advanced Russian

Today in class we spent time working with Russian texts so that we would be better prepared for the examination next class. Remember that the exam will be focused on verbs in their various forms. You should be able to work with verbs in all tenses (past, present, future) and be able to identify key information about them (tense, stem, form, infinitive, etc.). For the examination on Wednesday you will have a section that asks you to conjugate given some information about a verb. Then there will be a section much like today's in-class progress. Find and explain a variety of verbs.

Prepare by reviewing old quizzes, studying verb cards, and reviewing the appendix in your textbook starting at page A-25.

Homework for the Weekend - B Day - 11 October

AP Literature

Here we go into philosophy which may make you pull your hair out. Or you may just realize that nothing really matters and hair is just a social construct. Anyway, here we go into Unit 2. Remember that we'll start reading The Stranger by Albert Camus on Thursday - please secure a copy by then. We have some in class you can use if needed.

Over the weekend you should finish your visual representation related to your oppression work. These visuals are due on Tuesday. You can present to the class, or to your teachers privately. We are also reading a short story this weekend - Susan Glaspell's "A Jury of Her Peers". As you read pay attention to the three philosophies at play in the story as well as the way that dialogue is used. Try and apply the philosophies as you read.

By this point, everything from Unit 1 should be complete. If you have questions or concerns, see us.

AP Research

Your work is the same as your colleagues in A-Day. The main goal is your annotated bibliography entries by Sunday. There's also your sixth reflection question. Remember that next week we'll be moving on into pitches and poster projects, the work in the Annotated Bibliography will really help you here. There are going to be many workshop days ahead, which will be helpful for us all!

Thursday, October 10, 2019

Homework for the Weekend - A Day - 10 October

AP Research

The main goal is to work through your Annotated Bibliography entries and submit them to Google Classroom by Sunday. I'm going to have a lot of reading ahead of me, so submitting soon will expedite my process. Please use the templates you have as well as the rubric to guide your work.

I've also updated the reflection document with number six. Complete that over the weekend if you can - but the priority is the Annotated Bibliography.

Russian I

Next class we'll have a quiz on possessive pronouns before moving on to finishing our movie on Russia's culture. Be sure that you're ready by knowing the three genders in Russian, the vocabulary related to ownership, and some of our new vocabulary words.

Advanced Russian

Next class will be our final practice before the One Stem Verb Examination. Be sure that you're using our tasks today in class to guide your study since you'll be working with authentic texts. Can you see verbs? Can you work with them back to their infinitive? Do you see the cases working with these verbs? All of these questions will show just how well you can use this system for what it can do.

B-Day Homework and Reminders

AP English Literature
Good job hanging in there while writing our first in class essay! I know some of us had mixed feelings about our writing, but that's okay! We need to start somewhere and now we will just keep improving our writing for the real test in May.
For Friday:
1. Read Flannery O'Connor's "A Good Man is Hard to Find" on pages 454-467. Look for irony, shifts in tone and connections to "Good Country People."
2. Make sure your outlines are turned in online! I have most of the outlines, but not all of them, so make sure they are turned in on Google Classroom!
3. I will get your outline rubrics back to you on Friday. This means your project presentations/ artifacts will be due next Tuesday.
4. If you have any questions about college admissions, Ms. E's information is in the ppt presentation from today on Google Classroom.

AP Research
Hello researchers! Some of us were very productive today. Some of us need to pick up the pace on our ABs.
A few reminders:
1. Keep working on your ABs.
2. Update your task logs.
3. Complete your reflections.
If you have questions for me or Mr. Miller, please let us know next class!

Thank you for being cooperative and courteous during the movie today. I hope you got a taste of Russian culture, especially when seeing those pastries, yum!!

Remember to study for the possessive pronoun quiz on Thursday!

Advanced Russian
Thank you for paying attention during the movie today! I hope you got a great look into one of the most prominent Russian novels of all time! Also, you will always remember who wrote Anna Karenina, right?

Remember to turn in your case worksheets on Thursday!

Homework for the Weekend - B Day - 4 October 2019

AP Literature

For those of you using Native Son as one of your sources for your outline, the end-text citation is as follows:

Native Son. By Nambi E. Kelley, directed by Colette Robert, 26 Sep. 2019, Playmakers Repertory Company, Chapel Hill. Performance.

Remember that your Oppression Outlines are due to Google Classroom by Sunday. You should submit online. If you are working in a group and submitting one outline for the group, be sure that it is clear who did what. These outlines will guide your final product due Friday. Remember that these products should communicate your argument but not rely on the written word to do so. Consider how organization, layering, and key details can help you here.

Other than that we'll have the second part of our assessment on Tuesday - the essay. You'll have approximately 55 minutes to complete your response. Please secure a copy of The Stranger as soon as possible. Remember that you want the one by Vintage International so that we have the same translator.

If you were absent from today's class be sure to go to AP Classroom and complete the Unit 1 MCQ.

AP Research

Today in class we had time to work before finishing the Manzanar paper and reviewing the essential elements of the academic paper. Be sure that you are using the instructions document as you are working and beginning to write.

Over the weekend there are several things to be working on. The first is your Annotated Bibliography. Be sure that you're using the templates as you write. Focus on the best sources that you've found. As you write, how will you be able to discover more that you may find. Remember that the Annotated Bibliography will set us up well for the Literature Review - an essential component of your paper.

I would also direct you to Google Classroom for the Reflection Questions. Please complete Reflection 5 this weekend. If you are missing earlier reflections, please complete those and send me a link when they are complete.

Homework for the Weekend - A Day Edition - 3 October

AP Research

In order to make life a bit easier I compiled the reflection questions into one document for you. Please check that document and be sure that you have Reflections 1-4 complete. If you missed an earlier check, send me an email with a link to the document and we will get that settled.

Be sure that you've submitted your Source Check Two to Google Classroom in the appropriate space. I'll be looking at these tonight.

Next class will be a working day - You'll be grinding through some Annotated Bibliography entries, so have those templates and access to those sources. The Annotated Bibliography is due by October 13 and is our key focus for this upcoming week.

Russian I

Today in class we reviewed our possessives and the idea of gender in Russian. We did some great practice to be ready for our quiz next week on this concept. Next class you have a video day, I hope you enjoy it. Be ready for the quiz by reviewing your textbook as well as the notes we took. Playing with your dominoes will help a lot too.

Advanced Russian

Today in class we reviewed verb conjugation, we wrote a bit about Cheburashka, and then we took a quiz. For the teams that didn't finish - please come back tomorrow to complete the quiz work. For the weekend you should focus on cases. Go through the packet and select two of the six pages to complete. Identify which cases are being used. Think about why. Next class you also have a movie day. It's a good one that will take us some time to complete!

Homework for B-Day: October 2nd

AP Literature

Fantastic job with reading the critical essays and applying their themes to "Everyday Use!" Keep these critical lenses in mind as we continue reading for the next unit.

A few things to keep in mind for next class:

1. We will have our unit examination on Friday starting out with our multiple choice section. Study, but do not be discouraged! This test is going to measure SKILLS and NOT CONTENT. The second section will be your free response essay and you will complete that on Tuesday. It will be a full timed essay and you will have 55 minutes to respond to a chosen prompt. The two pieces will combine for your unit examination score. Remember, this test is based on SKILLS NOT CONTENT.

2. Make sure you turn in the following items by the end of this week:

      1. College Essay Resubmissions
      2. Individual Summer Outline Resubmissions (Need to be printed out and turned in)

3. Group Project presentations are next week! If you have questions about the project, please bring them in on Friday and we will answer them.

AP Research

Hello Researchers - Mr. Miller and I hope that talking through the sample AP Research paper was helpful today! We will continue reading through the paper on Friday.

Keep working on your 2nd source list! Make sure that you are submitted a revised source list and not just resubmitting your first one. Also, keep working on your Annotated Bibliographies and be sure to have 25ish sources.

Last thing, make sure to complete your reflection by the end of this week. Look out for the reflection question in Google Classroom.

We appreciate your hard work today and remember to come to class with questions when needed.

Homework for A-Day Students: 1 October 2019

The end of Quarter 1 will happen this month! It's important to be prepared as we're moving ahead!

AP Research

Today we started to get a good idea of the final product, but we also saw a fair amount of the work in the beginning as well. This is great for us as we are moving forward into our work with the Annotated Bibliography since some of that writing will find its way in to your paper through the Literature Review.

For tonight there are a few things to accomplish.

  1. Continue to work on and submit your final source list. Remember that this should be around 40-50 sources and it should reflect growth from the first source list.
  2. Write your annotated bibliography entries based on the template documents that we have seen and been using so far. Remember to focus on the sources that you find to be the strongest or most useful. Go back to the Literature Review to see how this will eventually be used.
  3. Be sure to look at and complete the most recent reflection. It's in our Google Classroom post for today.

Russian I

Today in class we did some singing and working on gender and the way that words like possession words change to show gender. This is the root of your homework tonight. I want you to use the notes we did today in class to work through the exercises 1.11 and 1.12 in the end of Chapter One. Fill in the blank with the appropriate word. Remember to identify the gender of the item (look at the last letter) as you do this work.

Remember, this is the last week for anything from Unit One as we're moving into Unit Two.

Advanced Russian

For homework tonight you should do a few things. First, check in with your grades on PowerSchool. If there is anything missing or that needs to be redone, you have this week to complete that work. Next week we will only be scoring and submitting the Unit Examination. Second, complete the exercises that I gave you on identifying cases. We'll be working through that next class. Lastly, spend some time writing and working. Write a few episodes talking about what happened in the episode we watched, what may happen in the future, and what we saw in the past. Remember, as I said in class, you're only doing half the work if you don't go home and practice, and half only gets you a 50%.

Next class we will have a small partner quiz on conjugation and stem identification. Be ready!
