March 21 - Outline of Week 1 / AP Updates

Dear Students,

Monday is an annual leave day for teachers. I will have the assignments posted for the week as well as the schedule for my availability during the week posted for you then. If you need to reach me outside of the scheduled time for your class, feel free to drop me an email to set up an alternative time for meeting. Please check your AP Classroom pages (AP English students) as well as Google Classroom pages for work and announcements.

I will be available daily on ZOOM at certain periods for each of my classes. Consider these classroom hours where you can drop in and we can work to review material, go over work that you have already submitted, or whatever else you may need. You might want to go ahead and get ZOOM set up on your computer now. Here is my schedule for Week 1:

Monday - No Availability (Annual Leave Day)
Tuesday through Thursday - Morning 9:00 am - 12:00 pm // Afternoon 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Friday - Morning 9:00 am - 12:00 pm // Afternoon 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Mornings will be scheduled for each of the classes (please see Google Classroom) and afternoons are drop-in time. Remember to come to my ZOOM ROOM (sorry, ya'll, but the dad jokes are going to get worse before they get better).

AP Updates - The College Board has made significant changes to the examinations this year in order to accommodate the loss of instructional time due to COVID-19. Here are an outline of those changes as it applies to English and Research. Full information is at their website!

AP English Literature - At home examination consisting of free-response questions that cover Units 1-7 (don't worry, we've covered these as AP Units do not equal Mr. Miller Units). The examination will be 45 minutes.

AP Research - No Presentation/Oral Defense, you'll just submit your academic paper as your examination score.  The deadline to submit has been pushed by about a month to May 26 at 11:59 Eastern Time. This should give those of you who need time to make and execute contingency plans the ability to do so.
