Today, I learned that Sophia was very versatile and had the ability to quickly think on her feet whenever someone presented her with the oppotunity to act as her character. It seemed that the character whom everyone had chosen was one that they were passionate about, and enjoyed taking on their persona. The idea that I was trying to make apparent to the people who met me, was that though Jim sounds illiterate and uneducated, he is very personable, innocent, and caring towards Huck... hehe.

I thought that Kathryn did a really good job of helping people figure out who she was without being blatantly obvious. I also believe that Sophia played her role very well and was entertaining. I learned that Emily (as Sunny) was very persistent and really wanted her $15. I also learned that Kylie’s (as Jim) actions spoke louder than words, since it was difficult to understand her. I thought this activity brought together all of our books we read over this year. I actually ended up connecting some of the themes since a lot of the characters from the different books were there. What I tried to exude about Jordan was that she was a golfer that enjoyed going to parties but was unfortunately dishonest.

Kathryn Taylor impressed me today because she was very into her character and was quick to say the perfect things that fit Bledsoe perfectly.
This was so fun and i really enjoyed talking to almost everyone and finding out who they were. There were a lot of well dressed up people in the room, including Henry Dobbins if i do say so myself!:)

The idea i was trying to show people is that the war messes with the mind and its hard to distract yourself from the war memories. The war isnt only fought physically the war fights with the soldiers, changing perfectly normal nice men into different personalities.

I agree with others saying Kathryn did a wonderful job, she totally knew what she was going to say and really knew how to get into character. Before this year, there was a handful of people I had never shared a class with nor did I know them at all. Throughout this class we all shared our thoughts and opinions but this activity was one where we could truly express who we were (although it was shown through a character), it was interesting to see who was outgoing and who was timid. (qualities not are not bad!!) I had such a fun time and it was fun to see the connection and differences between the books that accumulated over the year. Jim, a freed slave, was much different that Gatsby, a wealthy white male. I really enjoyed this and will miss everyone so much!!

Annalies impressed me the most as Henry Dobbins, not only because of her costume but the things she said and the way she acted made it easy to guess who she was. I learned that Emily as Sunny can be very persistent even offering to "go both ways" for only $15. Kayln and Sophia were funny as the Duke and Dauphin, entertaining the class with their silly tricks and dancing. Anyone who met me should know that I was once a sweet innocent girl who was corrupted by Vietnam, transformed to an animistic personality, and then could never leave.

I learned that Sunny gets what Sunny wants. Emily did so well playing Sunny, no matter what character was talking she made herself seem like she was actually supposed to be in the conversation. I was also impressed by Mary Anne (Morgan) once she "transformed" it was easy to see who she was without her having to tell anyone. The idea I wanted to get when they talked to me was that the Invisible Man was kind of a loner and (with help from Caroline) he couldn't escape his past no matter how much he tried to.

I think almost everyone did an excellent job in portraying their character and/or symbol. I was really impressed with Kathryn's portrayal of Dr.Bledsoe, but I also thought that Teewon did a great job of being Daisy. It was really fun to see all of the characters come to life and interact with other characters from different stories. I was Jane from Catcher in the Rye, and I wanted people to see that I, in a way, was like the girl that Holden respected but at the same time was growing up and leaving behind my childhood attitude.

I think Sophia did a great job playing her role, along with Kalyn. I really enjoyed how they entertained the class with their random dance scenes while still being in character. I also have to give props to Mr. Miller and Teewon for being Gatsby and Daisy, it was really entertaining. As the Wasp from "Spider and the Wasp," I wanted everyone to see that I was persistent and strong even though a wasp may not be seen that way.
I really enjoyed this activity! It was the perfect way to end a great class.

Overall I was very impressed with everyone's costumes and perforance. I was also impressed at the way everyone easily stayed in character the whole time. Doing this was alot easier than I thought it would be. I thought that Kathryn did a really nice job at presenting herself as Bledsoe. Somehow she always had a good answer for every question that someone asked her. I could tell that she wasvery prepared. I also thought that Kayln and Sophia did a very good job of portraying their roles together, and they provided great entertainment! The idea that I was trying to get across and that I hope that everyone who encountered me knows was that as a chain, I have two different, almost contrasting purposes: either to join people together in unity or to opress people and keep them tied down. I was also trying to show my purpose in the Invisible Man, which is that I represent the invisible man's inability to escape from his identity and his past. It's as if he was bound by chains.

I thought Joey did a good job as Pap. He acted just as pap would have, but just not as drunk. I was Tom Sawyer and I wanted people to know that he is adventurous to a fault-he can never take anything seriously.

Everyone portrayed their character very well, but I was impressed with Morgan's transformation into Mary Ann. It was a clever idea to slowly become the character, just as Mary Ann did in The Things They Carried. I also think that The Great Gatsby characters were really entertaining, especially when scenes were reenacted.
For my character, the tarantula from "The Spider and the Wasp," I wanted people to see that although tarantulas may seem to be scary, vicious, and strong, its defense is usually to run away. Also, the wasp is a very small character but it can greatly impact a larger character such as the tarantula.

I thought that Teewon did a great job as Daisy. I interacted with her twice and she stayed in character very easily. Kudos to Mr. Miller for being a very good Gatsby (DiCaprio is jealous:) ). I really enjoyed arguing with Annalies, who made a lovely Henry Dobbins. And of course Mariel.....
My main idea that I wanted people to realize was that Martha was very bookish and proper and had mixed feelings about Jimmy Cross. This was such a great way to end the class; I enjoyed all the discussions about the books we read and will miss having it as my A1 class :)

I learned their names, their beliefs, their views on how the country should be operated and what things are most important to them. I was most impressed by the acting of Kathryn as Dr. Bledsoe because she stayed in character very well and by Sophia and Kalyn because they acted together just as their characters did in Huck Finn. As Pap, I really didn’t have anything educated I was trying to get across, but it was fun acting as him. Basically, he loves his beer.

I think everyone did a wonderful job in portraying their character Friday. However, Kathryn’s portrayal of Dr. Bledsoe, was amazing. Kathryn was able not only able to give a clear representation of Bledsoe in her costume but also able to have a full length conversation about the character Bledsoe. I was Stadlater from Catcher and the Rye. The most important aspect of my character is that he in many ways is a phony who is overly obsessed with his appearance. This relates back to the idea of how present day society in a way presents its self a modern day Stradlater.

I was very impressed by the way everyone in our class was able to embody their characters with really creative outfits and the conversations they had with me and everyone else- I thought Annalies and Joey had the best costumes. The ones I enjoyed most were the smaller characters that took a bit of guessing, but I was also really impressed by my classmates who chose to embody symbols and animals like Caroline and Joy and Maggie and Elizabeth. I was also very impressed with Kathryn and Emily’s portrayal of Dr. Bledsoe and Sunny and how they were able to stay in character the whole time regardless of who they were talking to. I learned that Kalyn is very good at impromptu performances and I felt like I got to know Sunny from Catcher in the Rye much better because I saw how determined and witty she was.
The main Idea that people should have gotten from me (the Dauphin) was that I can get along with anyone, but shouldn’t be trusted because I would do anything to cheat someone out of a dollar, even assume a new identity.

My core statement from the project was i wanted people to understand Daisy was a very vain, character and really was her own biggest fan. She only cared about those who were good "entertainment" for her, like Gatsby.
I was so impressed by Mr. Miller as Gatsby, he portrayed his character well. Kathryn did so well as bledsoe and could think well on her feet with every interaction and sounded just like bledsoe. Emily was sunny times 100! she sounded just like a prostitute(no offense) and played every aspect of the character amazingly! Also kalyn and sophia did so well as the duke and the dauphin their tricks and dances were the best entertainment of the night!

I thought everyone did a great job portraying their character, but I was the most impressed with Kathryn's portrayal of Dr. Bledsoe from the Invisible Man. She did a very good job of speaking in the voice of Dr. Bledsoe, answering questions as he would. I also thought Sophia and Kalyn's costumes were really good and that they did a great job entertaining the class.
For my character, Virginia Woolf form "The Death of the Moth," I wanted people to see the ways in which an author can insert themselves into a piece of writing even while writing about something as specific as a moth. Even though Woolf's writing could be depressing she had a great way of describing emotion (even for something as seemingly insignificant as a moth). She used a lot of the rhetorical devices we talked about in class such as tone, pathos and syntax to accurately portray that emotion to her audiences.

Everyone did a wonderful job portraying their characters and i learned about the main beliefs and was able to more clearly see the personalities of the different characters. I also though Katherine did the best job with her portrayal of Bledsoe.
For Kiowa people should have seen that, while the war impacted and changed him greatly he still cared about his friends and tried to help people get through the emotional pain caused by war.

I learned that Martha was a very avid English student with an amiable personality. She seemed very knowledgeable about literature. It was also interesting to look at the similarities and differences between the Duke and Dauphin. They were both sly and entertaining, but it was nice to see that Kalyn and Sophia remembered which of them performed which acts. I was most impressed by Joey Shafer's portrayal of Pap because he was able to show the dark sides of the character's personality while providing a funny spin. My core statement as Dr. Bledsoe was that it is important to play the "white man's game" to achieve success, and that success can be valued above all else. I hoped that people would come away with the idea that I was extremely opportunistic, selfish, and cruel.

OH my goodness! i forgot about this!
Reading through everyones comment i agree with them all! KATHRYN was amazing as Bledsoe. She really did rehearse before school i think. Kalyn and sophia were cracking me up as the D and D from Huck. Of couse Joey was a good Pap. Maggie and Joy' s insect outfits were so creative. Olivia looked just like Jordan. Everyone looked great! I tried to make apparent that Huck was all over the place. He didn't stay in one spot for long and as in the words of Martha "he didn't have much manners. The activity was great because i got a review of major characters themes and even symbols from our books this year.

Great idea Milz
and Great job everyone!
