Homework for the Weekend - 10 January - B Day

Russian I

Today in class we put pen to paper to try and write about ourselves using our cases. Some of us were really successful and I can see that others of us need to spend some time reviewing. Remember that the main job of all of the cases is to say what the word is doing in the sentence. Not really what it means. Keep in mind that you should be sure that the word is in the right case for it to have the job you want it to have.

Over the weekend, be sure that you have completed your practice exercises from the textbook. Also, know your different words of the day - practice and use these as well as the other vocabulary from Chapter One. In your textbooks, a great practice is the reading passage at the start of Chapter One. Go through this and try to find the use of prepositional and accusative cases.

Advanced Russian

Today in class we learned our first transitive verb of motion - to carry with your own power. Remember that with this verb and others like it you'll have a double accusative situation for your item and then the destination. Be sure that you're looking over your cards regularly so that you learn these new verbs thoroughly.

This weekend you have exercises focused on prefixes - Russian II should complete 62-64 focused on the по- prefix. Russian III should take a look at the exercises 86-88 and 93-95 which focus on в-, вы-, при-, у-, под-, и от-. As you get familiar with putting these prepositions on your verbs, be sure that you are also putting these verbs with logical prepositions to discuss movement and destinations.

All Russian classes will have quizzes next week on Wednesday related to our new content!

AP Seminar

Our first deadline is coming up on Monday, the AB. Be sure that you are using your group-mates as well as the various documents and supports that I have given you so far this year to complete this task. You'll submit a hard copy of your AB on Monday and then we'll start to talk about how we transform these AB's into IRR's. As always, take a look at the sample papers in Google Classroom. Can you see elements of the AB in their writing? How is the IRR different from the AB? What types of writing and structure will you need to add to the IRR so that it does what it needs to do? How is the rubric for the IRR helpful when completing the AB?
