Homework for the Evening and Weekend - 15 May

AP Seminar

Today in class we had our final 360 review of the class (focused on IMPODs) and then we took time for arts and crafts with our class handout. These new handouts are due on Thursday. It should reflect the goals of the class and give someone a good overview of the class. Be creative! Have fun!

For the next two classes you'll be watching a film - Good Night and Good Luck. Consider how this film would be different if the people in it had taken AP Seminar.

Advanced Russian

Today in class we had a fair amount of fun with participles - is that even possible? With me it is. Over the weekend we should all be actively working on our song projects to identify Russian II and III skills. Additionally we have our exercise on participles. Complete seven additional exercises and turn the participles back into который phrases. Follow the instructions and path we did today.

This is also a good time to mention our final exam. Remember that it will review all of the skills we have learned this year. Be prepared and begin to study now. It'll make life a lot easier in the future.

Russian I

Today in class we spent some time reflecting on Russians and their memory of World War II (The Great Patriotic War) before taking our quiz on plurals in nominative case. Over the next few days you should all begin to prepare for your final exam. We won't be learning any new content - it's all about review from here on out. Start with your vocabulary. Go through Chapters 1, 2, and 3 this weekend and make your vocabulary study lists. This will also help with reminding yourself of the grammar topics.

Homework for B-Day Students: 13 May 2019

AP Seminar

Thank you all today for your feedback related to our Performance Task 1 units and preparation. I really do thank you all for your feedback and thoughtful ideas related to our class. Please complete the final questions related to this conversation on Google Classroom. Also ensure that you have completed your formal letter reflection before Wednesday's class.

Advanced Russian

Today in class we really reviewed the different endings for participles, the ways that we form them, and the tricky faces that they can wear for us. Hopefully you all are finding ways to apply this work as you are working through your songs. Remember that the song project is our main means of preparing for the final examination. The 28th is our last day of class and this is the day for our presentations. You'll be expected to review the five interesting elements of your song's grammar, the cultural information related to the singer/group, and your memorization, The memorization can be done privately. This is a big final project which can have some major effect on your grade - be sure that it is positive.

For tonight's homework, be aware of your reading and participle hunting. Next class is really our last day of instruction. Hopefully you'll be prepared to wrap up our work with participles.

Russian I

Today in class we spent most if not all of our time reviewing the process by which we create plurals from singulars for all of our parts of speech. We ended our day with our word cards. Like I said, writing out the changes for the words and understanding why the changes are made is key to understanding Russian. Be sure that you are building in time this summer to do this work so that you don't forget all of your Russian this summer.

Next class we will have a quiz on plurals in Russian. The quiz will focus on regular and irregular plurals. This is the final quiz of the year! Outside of this there will be few assignments left in the year. Be sure that you're finishing strong!

Homework for B-Day Students: 7 May 2019

AP Seminar

I hope that you all crushed it today. You walked in feeling tired, but you walked out feeling like a boss. On Thursday we'll start our concluding activities and building the bridge to AP Research. Enjoy your rest tonight - you've certainly earned it!

Advanced Russian

Today in class we had our quiz on short-form versus long-form adjectives before going to return to our song projects. I am very impressed by the work you are putting in with your projects. Be on the lookout for things you think you should know, but don't. Additionally, as you work through the lyrics, be sure to mark questions you may have. Remember that you may not yet know what the vocabulary is or the grammar is - that's part of working with living texts.

Our next checkpoint is next week where we will review any Russian II skills apparent in the song.

Tonight for homework I would recommend reading over the section of Chapter 11 which focuses on participles. Read over pages 466-474. Take notes as you are reading. Write questions. We'll go through this information on Thursday in a slow and methodical way with lots of examples to help.

Russian I

Now we have reviewed the process for forming plurals in the nominative case for all genders and all parts of speech. Last class we worked through the regular process and today we looked at irregulars. Remember that all of the irregulars are only for nouns - there are no irregular adjectives or other parts of speech.

To practice, complete exercises 3.1 and 3.2 A and Б. In these exercises you'll be working with regular and irregular plurals. Apply your notes and make your changes!

29 August - B Day - Homework and Announcements

We're well into the swing of things now; here are your reminders and announcements as we prepare for next class.

English IV

Ms. Coco and I were very happy to see how engaged you all were today in class as we worked through Langston Hughes. Next class we're going to continue reading and spend a lot of time focused on vocabulary learning.

For tonight, we are going to stay focused on learning about ourselves and telling others about ourselves. For this, find a song that you think represents you well. Bring in the lyrics or the song itself (YouTube video, website, recording) to show us how the song connects to you. If the song is not in English, translate a bit so that we can understand.

AP English III

Our main goal for next class is to work through Sections I and II of In Cold Blood. Be sure that you have reviewed your annotations in these sections and prepared your vocabulary bookmarks for these sections too. We'll be working through these sections through some group activities and we'll also start looking at outlining skills in advance of giving back your first part of the summer assignment next week.

As always, if you have any missing paperwork, please get that turned in as soon as you can!
