AP Seminar
We are well on our way to finishing our IMPODS. I am very happy with the work that I saw today, and the level of support that you all have given to each other as we have done this work. Through the week, be sure that you have placed final touches on your IWA and submitted your final. I will also remind you that after you do your AP Pre-Administration (Tuesday or Wednesday) you will then need to import your AP Number. Deep breaths kiddos - it's finished!

Today we had our unit examination for Units 7 and 9. Be aware that if you were absent you will need to schedule approximately one hour for a make-up session. Do try to get that done this week so that I can return the exams by Friday.
We are all going to move on together for the end of the year - Please review Chapter 11 (Russian III Textbook) and complete the chapter preview form. Additionally, AP Examinees should be reviewing from Schaum's Russian Grammar in order to prepare and review difficult topics. Lastly, if you see a zero score for the most recent project please check your submission on Google Classroom. If you are not able to submit, please share your work with me and email me to inform me that it is ready to be scored.

Today in class we reviewed our former Soviet Republics before we took time to review the usage of conjunctions in Russian. We finished our day with a game of LOTO and some more practice with writing sentences using conjunctions. To finish our learning on this relatively straightforward grammar topic, complete the final set of sentences for Exercise 3.8. Remember to read the sentences, determine if they're more similar or dissimilar, and then to add the conjunction. Check to remove words that aren't needed.
Next class we'll be looking at forming adverbs from adjectives. I also need all tests complete. Wednesday is the last day to finish an incomplete test.

Homework for the Weekend - 10 May - A Day
English IV
As a reminder we will be done with the fourth quarter on 21 May which is in three classes. The 21st will be the day that you will have the option of presenting your final project for extra credit. The final project will count as a test grade. I'll have the details for you on Monday, but you already have a rough sketch of the project on your overall novel assignment sheet.
Over the weekend you should all focus on completing your close readings and your style analysis paragraphs. I saw that some of you had drafts of this work, and I was very glad to give you feedback on your work. Remember that you should complete the close readings first as that will lead you to the ideas for the writing assignment. Be sure that by the end of our workshop on Monday you have turned in your third vocabulary card, close readings and annotations, and style analysis paragraphs. Feel free to work on this over the weekend in order to get a jump on next week.

Most of the Juniors in the room were out taking the AP Environmental Science examination so be sure to get the notes you missed. Thankfully, most of you have me tomorrow for English. Today we reviewed the concept of combining sentences using , что / , чтобы - as you can see these words are close, but have some clear differences. Here's some information about the concept and it's also in Chapter Nine. You might want to stay after class tomorrow or at lunch to review with me. For homework you have your translations at the end of the chapter. Complete half of them. As Kendall said today in class, focus on vocabulary. Без слов, грамматика - ничего!
Your unit examination will fall on the 17th of May. This is the last test grade before the end of the year. You will have your last project grade on the 23rd of May (LDOC) and that is our speaking assignment. Do some work this weekend to plan for your character - we'll make selections on Monday in class since we should all be together. If you need to rewatch any of Летят Журавли check it out on YouTube by searching for it with MosFilm (the production company).

Today you had your Chapter Three examination. I'll have these graded and entered in PowerSchool as quickly as possible - likely by the end of the weekend. Make sure that if there were sections you felt unprepared for, that you immediately schedule and study for a resubmission. I will only be offering resubmissions in a small period of time.
Over the weekend you should start to prepare yourself for your final examination. You have your study guide and your textbooks which are two of the most important things to start your journey. As I said to the II/III's - focus on vocabulary!
See you all on Monday! До понеделкика!

Homework for the Weekend - A Day - 23 March
It's the end of the quarter! Hooray! I'll have your grades finalized around noon tomorrow. Make sure that you check by then for all of your extra credit and final assignments. Here are your reminders for the weekend.
English IV
Take it easy this weekend. We had our test today on Frankenstein and I'll have those back to you next week. If you were absent today, be sure to see me next week to make this up before Spring Break.
Advanced Russian
We have vocabulary and grammar projects happening right now. This weekend you need to construct your rough drafts so that we can conference on Tuesday. For Russian II this involves three paragraphs - weather yesterday in Russia and Durham, weather today, and weather tomorrow. For Russian III this involves your ingredients list, your amounts, and your steps in Russian.
Be ready to be productive on Tuesday as we'll very quickly move to the final draft and presentation of this product.
Russian I
Over the weekend you have two exercises to complete for our homework check and review on Tuesday. You will need to complete exercise 3.6 and exercise 3.8. The first focuses on changing words into adverbs and then inserting them into sentences. The second focuses on sentence combining with the proper conjunction.
In both of the exercises, be sure that you translate the sentence that you end up with as a marker of your vocabulary knowledge as well.
